Hi all,
maybe I will post more about my reasons for installing openSUSE 13.1 and the odyssey needed for this later, because it may help
other users (one example: I had to edit fstab manually to make my NTFS partitions usable - this is absolutely NO GO).
SUSE is great and mighty - seems, I found "my new linux" for the next years, but there are still some problems.
For the moment, I will focus on 2 issues:
1) (solved)
I always wondered, why I see something totally different when opening yast or software-management in KDE/TDE or XFCE.
I found the solution here:
https://forums.opensuse.org/english/...erface-qt.html
A big "thank you" to user "caf4926"! ;)
No, Software Management is made much easier and clearer by making sure your UI in Yast is GTK!
2) (unsolved)
I installed KDE3 from the SUSE repositories.
The system tray of KDE3 is simply unusable in later versions - i mean, it's a joke!
The icon size (16x16) seems to be somehow "hard-coded" (google-search) - so, you have no chance.
I installed Trinity (TDE) - absolutely great, except one thing (of course, this is a joke too >:():
They don't have my beloved (I use this app since maybe 15 years?) ksensors in their package list.
The versions from the SUSE repositories don't work and the message is always the same - something like
"libkdeui.so.4 not found".
The XFCE sensors-applet doesn't work with KDE/TDE.
So, here are my 2 questions:
a) obviously ;)
b) Why doesn't SUSE support TDE (instead of KDE3)...???
BTW: Please be aware that English is not my native language.
