Can't get the hang of KWallet

When I open KMail, then KWallet opens. I type the KWallet password and KMail then starts receiving email. OK, fine.

I was hoping to use KWallet to store other passwords (for example to log in to this forum)

The KWallet Manager icon on my desktop. If I click it, nothing happens.
