Ok, here you go,
After my exotic Eee PC 1225b fell (for one time only) and the hinge broke (now weird colours sometimes on the screen).
(Got it only because i found that low power CPU supporting hardware acceleration was cool).
But i guess Asus is earning reputation of not so durable quality hardware as it looks to me.
So after it broke i got an old second hand x61s for cheap. With which i think you can even play a football with.
But for my recent birthday i got even more exotic Inhon Carbonbook as a present. Which is lighter and generates less heat. (Altrough i dont really like the touch screen. And the big touch pad. Which works terrible on Linux. But ok i have a mouse).
So i installed Win 8 on it and OSuse 13. And there as i understand is no way to turn the SecureBoot off in Bios on this machine. There is an option where you can choose 'Other boot options' or something instead of 'Windows 8'. But it doesnt help. I tried many/multiple times. With different images and external CDrom and USB stick. As long as you are not using a SecureBoot supporting Distro (Osuse or Bubuntu) it just doesnt ever show up on the Boot choice screen (When trying to boot from a LiveCD for example).
So i just installed Osuse 13 and used it. Happily.
But then one day, a month ago or something, i touched the Bios setting. Was just trying something out with PXE boot. And whoop, gone is the Suse boot option. You get just the Win8 and nothing else. After trying to do something with the automatic BootRepairDisk. Which obviousely doesnt work. Because it has to do here with SecureBoot. Which is different tech. as i understand. (Different factors involved). Compared to plain simple Grub and or MBR. So after fidling somewhat with it. I just reformatted and installed Win 8 and Osuse 13 again.
Taking a conclusion that i absolutely may not touch Bios boot settings. To dont screw it up again.
Now happily using this setup for a month now or something. And baaamm, i did absolutely nothing. Just restarted. Ofc i may have installed some Osuse updates and/or some Win update(s). I dont even know if i did it or not. Why would i pay attention to it? Right?
So now there is this ultrabook with SecureBoot. Where i am able to boot only Win8.
I tried a bit to do something with EasyBCD. Like set Osuse as Default. But this didnt help eather.
So, is it maybe that anyone has any suggestion? Or experience with this new thing? Maybe there is something in Win8 settings that i can reach via control pannel or something. Which i dont know? Where i may be able to switch SecureBoot off or something?
Because i was doing some work there. Just needed Win for something. Rebooted. Shut it down. And the next day Linux boot option is gone. Without me even doing anything even remotely related to Boot settings. Just doing some tests in a Virtual Machine.
thanks in advance for any suggestions,
i would appreciate it :)
