Can one assign an alias address to a LAN adapter? The machine is set up with a fixed address on the adapter and would like to also have an alias address, perhaps one assigned by DHCP. Could add another adapter I suppose...
The reason being is that having this machine makes things a little easier for some software. But just switched from AT&T's DSL to U-Verse and am using the Motorola/Arris NVG589 modem. I also have gotten a few static IP addresses. Seems that the NVG589 does some odd things with static IP addresses and having it go to one machine. If you have a computer that has a static IP address it doesn't show up on it's list and so the machine must be set up to use DHCP. Anyone run into this (I'm sure some of you have...)
Thanks!
