Running XBMC shows only black screen

Hi,
I installed the latest version of XBMC (I don't know how to find out which one exactly, I'm new to Linux) and I'm running openSUSE 13.1 KDE. When I try to start XBMC, whether from the Launcher or the Terminal, it goes to a black screen and stays that way until I hit Ctrl+End. What do I need to check so that I know where the problem is?
