OpenSuse 13.1 shutdown problems

Hi.

We are using OpenSuse 11.4 Evergreen successfully for a very long time and as it is getting end of life our intention is to switch to the next Evergreen release 13.1.

However we are getting the following problems with a simple "Basic Textmode" installation in a ESXi 5.1 virtual machine (default install without any additional software).

  • Shutdown or reboot sometime hangs for about one minute while the following message is displayed on the console

"A stop job is running for User Manager for 0"

Any idea what is causing this / how to get around this problem?

  • When entering "halt" in the console the system shuts down but the system is not powered off.

When entering "poweroff" the system is shut down and powered off as expected. Settings "/etc/sysconfig/shutdown/HALT" to "poweroff" instead of "auto" does not help either.

Thank you very much for your help.

Regards.
