I just finished a openSUSE 13.1 (64 bit) on my pc, during the installation i already noticed that i could not add online repositorys because there was a network error. After the installation was finished i booted into kde and there was not internet. I looked into yast->network settings:
the global settings was in ifup but in the second tap "overview" or similar, there was not even a network devices listed!
I switched to network manager but that did not helped even after a reboot the problem was still there.
- I have Windows 7 installed on the same pc, internet/network is working here -> the network card (wired and connected with a thomson router) is not broken
I searched for a solution but i did not found anything helpful, apart from a hint that maybe my network card is not supported by the kernel
anyway here is the output of: /sbin/lspci -nnk
