VmWare workstation installed successfully

Hi previously I have tried many times to install vmware workstation9.0.0 on our operating system OpenSuse12.3 but failed and after a long time and experimenting repeatedly I have succeeded and now I am able to run vmware workstation without any error so I want to share my practices with you which may be helpful to you and others a lot.

After installing the OpenSuse12.3 OS be sure to install dkms,kernel-headers,kernel-devel, kernel-desktop-devel, gcc, make packages and remove the packages related to open-vm-tools and its dependencies then restart your system then run vmware*.bundle then successfully installed message appears after that run the command vmware-modconfig --console --install-all then the error message unable to setup environment appears so visit the log files of vmware there you can find the message FAILED to locate version.h... so copy version.h file from /usr/src/linux-3.7.10-1.16-obj/linux to the directories marked with FAILED.

Then run the command vmware-modconfig --console --install-all now the installation succeeds and now if you start vmware workstation the system hangs and the X Windows System stops functioning so uninstall the vmware workstation and reinstall it. What I have done is first I have installed vmware workstation9.0.0 and the system stopped working and I have followed the above steps and I have downloaded the file VMware-Workstation-Full-9.0.2-1031769.x86_64.bundle and just executed the file and then reopend vmware workstation9 and it worked fine.

I suggest you to copy the file version.h manually to all the directories marked as FAILED in log files instead of using scripts.

I hope this post may be helpful to you.

Regards,
Rupesh.
