this just started happening on Friday, I performed a dist upgrade at that point and got a new kernel. After sorting through some kernel boot param issues I noticed today that my linphone no longer places the audio directly out to my usb PnP headset.
you can run linphone from the cli(which I did) and asked for verbose output; which gave me a hint:
