Hello to all fellow Factory release users.
I have been using Factory release since two months ago, and very unfortunately XFS has suffered two severe corruptions after one or two kernel panics.
I am a laptop user, and have formatted root partition in XFS. The nouveau driver does not play nicely with the graphics card, and have caused three kernel panics.
The first kernel panic happened two months ago, after a restart XFS reported "metablock" error and refused to mount, then when I ran xfs_repair, every single file in the partition went to /lost+found, and none of them was useful for recovery.
Tonight nouveau caused two kernel panics. After the second kernel panic, XFS reported the same metablock error, and xfs_repair again proved unhelpful in recovering the partition - and I lost root again.
Therefore to all fellow Factory users - refrain from using XFS - it is simply unacceptable for a 20 years old file system to corrupt severely in just one or two kernel panics. For the safety of your data - do not use XFS.
Good luck!
