Unable to Login

I am using openSUSE 13.1, 64-bit, with KDE as my desktop environment.
Something must have been corrupted in my password file as I am now unable to login. (I am the only user that is set up.)
When I reach the login screen and enter my password, the system tells me that it is not valid.
Is there a tutorial somewhere that will tell me step-by-step what needs to be done in order to solve this problem? I'm not much of a Linux expert...
