I am running Opensuse 10.2. Starting a few days ago X crashes on boot leaving me with command prompts only.
If I run startx as a user I get the following error: "cannot move old log file ("/var/log/Xorg.0.log" to /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old
If I run startx as root it X will boot briefly then return to the command line saying "FreeFontPath: FPE "/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled" refcount is 2, should be 1: fixing. Closing device.
I can't supply my xorg.conf or similar files as I have only command line access.
I'm stumped. Anybody have any suggestions as to the problem. The computer works fine other than no GUI.
