Hello,
I have opensuse 12.2 with openjdk 1.7
For development purposes (eg ensuring java apps I write will work on machines with older versions of java, in particular 1.6)
Id like to be able to install a jdk 1.6, but in such a way that it does not interfere with the rest of the system.
Is this possible (with reasonable difficulty).
Is there any reason to prefer the oracle/openjdk version in this case?
Can I install one of these in a directory without the installation affecting any of the rest of my system, so that I can just tell my IDE (NetBeans) to use the jdk there?
Thanks in Advance.
