I'd like to ask if some of you have had experiences with Radeon R300 and Nouveau. I have a Powercolor Radeon 9550 AGP 8x card and i'm trying to get it working under Linux. On Nouveau/Gallium 0.4, the desktop environment (tested XFCE and MATE) suffers glitches which vary from "tolerable to horrifying". Mouse cursor, for example, is a square bunch of green pixels, and 2d elements from the applications' Widget toolkits show weird magenta glitches (the case of Firefox). On the other side, Glxgears works good, it's fast and has no glitches.
As far as I have read, R300 Nouveau driver should work fine on most cases. Maybe some boot parameter could fix it? Anyone has any idea?
Tested on OpenSuse 12.3, 13.1 RC2, Fedora 19 and Point Linux 2.2 (Debian based livecd), all of them shipping Nouveau, since no ATI support is available anymore.
I can't find any clue about why is this happening and the card is not usable for everyday tasks. Any help or suggestions will be very appreciated.
