I just got my new workstation with an Asus board (Asus Z87-PLUS), Core i7 4770, nVidia GeForce GT 640 (probably Asus GT640-2GD3) and two 24" Eizo monitors. Though it's a cool machine, I'm failing getting the graphics to work properly for two days now.
The graphical glitches are all the same. Sometimes more severe, sometimes less (read 'sometimes' in the sense of 'with different setup/configuration procedures'). As I find it rather hard describing the glitches, I've uploaded a screenshot. Initially, those glitches occur always. When switching off KDE's desktop effects and selecting OpenGL 3.1 as well as Qt graphics system on "raster", the glitches disappear for all pure KDE/Qt applications with exception of some plasma widgets as the control panel and launcher (Alt+F2). Non-KDE/Qt applications such as Firefox suffer from those glitches.
I've tried the following approaches:
Installing the latest proprietary nVidia driver 331.20 (via ftp://download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/331.20/) succeeds but reboot fails. Installing it via Knurpht's repository (Index of /repositories/home:/Knurpht:/dkms-nvidia) fails. Installation via the Bumblebee-Project (either the semi-official Index of /repositories/home:/Bumblebee-Project:/nVidia:/latest/openSUSE_13.1 or Overman79's Index of /repositories/home:/Overman79:/Laptop/openSUSE_13.1) does not fail but does not change anything with the glitches.
Anybody any hints on what I can try to get it working?
Cheers
Torbjörn
PS: I've only got ssh access to the machine until Tuesday.

I've tried the following approaches:
- plain net-install of openSUSE 13.1 without any additional sources beside the main repositories
- that means nouveau module
- based on above with recent stable kernel (kernel-desktop 3.12.3-1.gf37dca6) from Index of /repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard
- in addition to (1) and (2) as well as only to (1) with all Xorg/Mesa packages from Index of /repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_13.1
- also tried switching from KDE 4.11 to KDE 4.12 without luck regarding the glitches
