Bitcoin - Wallet database always corrupt

I have bee trying to install bitcoin-qt v8.5, a beta version wallet, on my machine - Suse 12.3 KDE. It installs fine and the first thing it does is index the entire network of transactions. However, this process never completes. At some point an error pops up. "Database corrupt" with no choice but "Ok". It then just shuts down after "Ok" is selected. When you run it again it immediately give you the "Database corrupt" notice again and shuts down again.

If I delete all the files in /.bitcom it starts the process over again, but eventually it will give me the "Database corrupt" notice sometime before it is finished - sometimes almost immediately and sometimes hours into the process. I have deleted and reinstalled it to no avail. I have installed it from a SourceFoge page and Suse oneclick and command line zypper.

Does anyone know how I can set up a stable wallet on Suse?
