need help with a script

$

I'm using leap 15.2 and KDE.

I'm trying to write a script to get a list of directories ( from the current directory, pwd).

Code:

for dir in *
do
  echo "dir = $dir"
done

This gets me close but using * doesn't include directory info.

Is there a simple script to do this without parsing the whole output from a command like

Code:

ll
?

Thank you.

TUMBLEWEED Keepass database vulnerale deletable

Hi.
Has anyone seen something that would help me on this one?
I was using arch a wile ago, I got annoyed and came back to opensuse.
On main wile I started using Keepass to storage my passwords.
Back to opensuse I am using the same database so I do not need to put all the entries manualy, sweet.
The only thing is that the database (file where all the entries are stored) is deletable. In arch it was protected against deletion.
I started a new database to check on its behavior and the new database was also deletable.
It could be some settings on Keepass that I need to change.
What I tried to do was using chattr, but it did not work,
I will keep on trying to find the fixing. If I do I will post. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

wo sind die Links aufgelistet?

Hallo,

TUMBLEWEED Copy configuration of the terminal style from YaST installer of openSUSE Tumbleweed

Hi guys,

I found the font and text size of the terminal in YaST installer of openSUSE Tumbleweed are satisfying on my 2560x1440 screen. Is it possible to copy the configuration of the terminal in YaST installer and use it for the boot screen and following text mode of openSUSE Tumbleweed? Does anyone know how to do it?

Thanks in advance.

TUMBLEWEED no space in home folder

For the last few months I have been getting the following notification:
low disc space
Your Home folder is running out of disk space, you have 0 MiB remaining (0%.
when I check using dolphin it shows 20Kb free, and the computer slows to a crawl.
If I log out/log in dolphin shows 760 Gib free, and all is good for a few days after which the process repeats.
I have tried deleting files in the directory which shows as xfs mounted on /home from /dev/sdb5, but the problem re-occurs.
I have two drives mounted on home. Do I need to mount them elsewhere or is there some other problem / solution.
Thanks Laurie.

Since the new update of kernel-stable this weekend my ethernet connection through the USB docking station isn't working anymore. The network manager shows cable unplugged. Dmesg shows

TUMBLEWEED kded-rotation / screen rotation on plasma

I hope i'm doing this right, if any additional information is need, i´d be happy to provide it.
I have a miix320 netbook with a detachable screen that i'd like to auto-rotate. I know that i need kded-rotate for that which is not in the repos so i have to build it myself from git. Among the dependencies there is a package libqt5-qtsensors which i should be able to obtain from openSUSE:Factory. But i can neither install via website nor manually (Factory.repo not found).
I don't want to make a mess by building libqt5-sensors from source. Can anyone help me to install kded-rotation, please? I'm used to Arch & Void so i'm surely missing something here. Thanks!

LEAP 15.1 File managers do not autorefresh and worse

Hi Everyone.

I have recently moved to Leap 15.1 with xfce.

One issue I have is that file managers do not automatically refresh when changes happen.
For example, add a file to a directory, delete the file (outside of the file manager), but the original directory still contains a file like originally.

I have tried deleting the .cache directory and rebooting to no avail.

Also, if I use thunar specifically, navigate to a directory, and then delete the directory from the outside (e.g., using command line), attempt to refresh thunar manually (by pressing Ctrl+R) results in it crashing.

Any ideas?

LEAP 15.1 Dropbox does not really work

Hi Everyone.

I have recently moved to Leap 15.1 with xfce.

There have been various issues including Dropbox acting wonky.

Basically, I install Dropbox from the package manager and all seems fine.

It starts synching (it says), but does not give any kinds of progress reports either through GUI or when running dropbox status from the command line.

When I run dropbox status it just says that it is synching, but not how many files left etc.

At this point Dropbox had been saying this for a few days.

Yes, I do have lots of stuff there, but I do not know if it is actually synching or is hung.

I previously tried uninstalling Dropbox and reinstalling, but eventually hit the same issue.

Anyone can shed some light on this?

TUMBLEWEED Fullscreen videos stutter on Firefox

Good morning/evening/night guys,
since I installed the latest Tumbleweed updates yesterday (many many packages were upgraded, including Firefox), fullscreen videos played in Firefox have got low fps and constantly lag. This happens at least on Youtube and Vimeo. No problems when playing videos inside the webpage (no fullscreen mode). This happens even when viewing in very low resolution (360p and higher resolutions). 240p is as smooth as it should be, even in fullscreen. This doesn't happen in Chrome.
I'm using Wayland, haven't tried with Xorg yet. I'll try and keep you updated.
What can I do to grab more data on the problem?
Thanks :)

LEAP 15.1 KMail moves files from Inbox, then puts them back

I am running 15.1, KMail 5.10.3. An annoying "feature" is that when I move a message from the Inbox to one of my other folders, the move is successful, and the message title disappears from the Inbox listing, but.....then within seconds the listing and the message return to the Inbox. Sometimes it's just the message title, most times it is the whole message. If I delete the message it is definitely gone. As I said, annoying, but not fatal. However, I would like to get rid of these occurrences, so I don't have to first move, then delete. This has never occurred before in years of using KMail. Any suggestions on a solution would be appreciated!

LEAP 15.1 'Internal error' when attempting to install new software

$

I have tried to install Skype, Chrome and Teamviewer. For each of these as soon as I press the 'install' button and complete the authentication dialogue a message 'Internal error' appears.
The installs I have used are the Skype rpm download from the Microsoft website, the Opensuse Chrome from the Google website and the OpenSuse Teamviewer from the Teamviewer website.

What does 'Internal error' mean? Is it an OpenSuse error, a Discover error or an error in the downloaded package?
More importantly, what do I need to do rectify the situation?

A word of explanation : I have been using Windows 7 which is now 'deprecated' by Microsoft. I would prefer not to use Windows 10 so I'm looking for an alternative such as Linux for my main machine. In this context Skype and Teamviewer are essential for me.

Hello, I know this is probably firefox specific question, but maybe someone knows.

Why does firefox on leap 15.1 with openbox show downloads in a tab, which is actually my preferred behavior I'm trying to achieve

but on my tumbleweed machine with kde firefox shows downloads in extra window like this

I have no idea what config parameter could switch this behavior :( Extra window seems to be default on windows too, but I don't like it. Thank you.
