LEAP 42.3 Qt development for Android

$

Hi,
I tried to install the Qt Creator for development of Android apps. Obviously this is not possible with the Qt Creator from OpenSuse repisotories.
Therefore I choose the download from the officail Qt site, with the "qt-unified-linux-x86-2.0.5-2-online.run" program. After some issues with the 32 gcc and its environment the installation went fine.

But now, when I try to run the newly installed Qt Creator from its own directory the following error-message appears: "This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb"".
The Qt Creator form OpenSuse repisotory still runs fine.

Is there a tutorial/manual how to install Qt for android on OpenSuse?
Has anybody an idea how to fix this issue?

Thanks,
Johannes

TUMBLEWEED “Loading folder …” by Dolphin

Today I am using the file management application “Dolphin 17.12.2-1.1” once more in a session of the desktop environment “XFCE 4.12.1”. I am observing the message “Loading folder …” (together with a moving blue rectangle) in the bottom right corner for a while after I clicked the entry “Personal folder” in the left places widget.

How are the chances to clarify this software behaviour?

OTHER VERSION Fehlermeldung beim KernelCompilieren: 4.14.23: objdump format not recognized

Moin,

Dir: /usr/src/linux-4.4

Kernel: 4.14.23

man sieht Meldungen der Form:

CC [M] arch/x86/kvm/mmu.o
objdump: arch/x86/kvm/.tmp_mmu.o: File format not recognized
CC [M] arch/x86/kvm/emulate.o
objdump: arch/x86/kvm/.tmp_emulate.o: File format not recognized

Bis der Build dann abbricht:

objdump: arch/x86/kvm/.tmp_page_track.o: File format not recognized
CC [M] arch/x86/kvm/debugfs.o
objdump: arch/x86/kvm/.tmp_debugfs.o: File format not recognized
LD [M] arch/x86/kvm/kvm.o
arch/x86/kvm/../../../virt/kvm/kvm_main.o: file not recognized: File format not recognized
make[2]: *** [arch/x86/kvm/kvm.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [arch/x86/kvm] Error 2
make: *** [arch/x86] Error 2

Hmm: ..... identische Verhalten ebenso bei bei:

- 4.16-rc3
- 4.15.7

O.K. - der Abbruch kommt vom fehlenden "kvm_main.o"

Aber was sollen diese objdump Meldungen ?

Thanx,
Tom

LEAP 42.3 Bootreihenfolge läßt sich nicht ändern

Hallo!

TUMBLEWEED kde boot fails after interrupted ZYPPER DUP command

I was attempting to do a distribution update on my Tumbleweed system. It is a dual boot sytem with Windows 10 as the other boot option. During the installation portion of the update it hung and would not progress. I tried to kill it with Ctrl-C and after multiple attempts it did stop. I was then able to repeat the zypper dup command but it hung again a bit later. After multiple iterations, it finally completed.

However after that when booting in Plasma, the boot appeared to complete but the mouse would move but any mouse click would do nothing and the only response to the keyboard was when i entered Ctrl-Alt-F1. Then i was able to logon as root and issue a shutdown now command but the system looped thru "a stop job is running for session 2 " . Eventually it got past the stop jobs and fell into an endless displays as follows

systemd-journald[2372]: Failed to send WATCHDOG=1 notification message: Transport endpoint is not connected

The only way out of this was to use the power reset button. After rebooting and logging on with the LXQT desktop, I ran the "journalctl -b -1 -n 8400" command run as root as pasted the output here.

Interesting is that I can use any of the other Desktop Top environments without issue, but not Plasma. Sometimes when I try to boot into Plasma the graphical interface will not even start.

Is there any option to fix my Plasma DE, or is my best option to reinstall Tumbleweed. I would like to avoid that if possible.

Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Thanks,

LEAP 42.3 Dolphin hightlights wrong folder

$

Hi,
I noticed recently that whenever I open Dolphin (KDE file manager), it automatically highlights the first folder in alphabetical order. when I use the back button (on the dolphin window or my mouse buttons), it selects everything between the folder I was in and the first alphabetical folder. in this example, I went inside my "videos" folder and pressed back, and it selected everything between bin (1st in alphabetical order) to videos (folder selected).

I don't recall modifying any settings lately, in dolphin or anywhere, that could do that. the most daring thing I did was a rollback when there was the broken nvidia driver (and I don't think that bug started happening at that time anyway)... what is happening? how can I fix it?
Thanks.

I was install Leap 42.3 on my laptop HPba026ax, but I have problem when I suspend Leap 42.3. The monitor can suspend but the processor can't still run. During 5 second the monitor can suspend, LED caps lock on keyboard is blink. Is the AMD Video graphic Radeon R8 M445DX is incompatible with 42.3?. Thanks

trying to install Intel compilers version 2018 update 1, it complains:

32-bit libraries not found on this system.
This product release requires the presence of 32-bit compatibility libraries
when running on Intel(R) 64 architecture systems. One or more of these libraries
could not be found:
libstdc++ (including libstdc++6)
glibc
libgcc

Now I have the 32-bit libraries for all of these, and my LD_LIBRARY_PATH
includes
/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/7/32

Interesting I could install Intel compiler 2016 update 4 (which is definitely not supported)
and it did not complain about these 32-bit libraries.

Seither und egal, was ich mache - "Failed to cache rpm database (129)" (Was heißt eigentlich die "129"?).

Code:

# rpm --rebuilddb
# zypper up
Zielinitialisierung fehlgeschlagen:
Failed to cache rpm database (129)

Code:

# cd /var/lib/rpm
mv Packages Packages-backup
# db_dump Packages-backup | db_load Packages
# rpm -qa
# rpm --rebuilddb

dumpt zwar die Packages, aber die "129" bleibt.
Der Fehler wird also damit nicht behoben.

Was kann da helfen? Was ist denn überhaupt defekt?

LEAP 42.3 Software Manager configuration quirk.

$

I've got two machines here, both running 42.3. One machine has been upgraded for the past several releases--if memory serves, it's gotten an online upgrade for every release since 12.x. The second machine has a clean install of 42.3.

On the clean install, after installing software, the Software Manager displays a summary of what was done, and has buttons to allow me to exit the manager or install more software. There's also a "Don't show this screen again" checkbox.

On the upgraded machine, this summary is not displayed--after an install, the manager exits, and I have to launch it again from YaST.

How the heck do I get that summary screen to appear on the upgraded machine? I've tried comparing files from ./config/YaST2 between the machines, but haven't found anything obvious.

Any suggestions?

LEAP 42.3 Mining cryptocurrency on OpenSUSE

$

I find mining software difficult to get on Linux and specially OpenSUSE.

I managed to get ethereum mining on OpenSUSE using ethminer
For mining:
ethereum-cpp (
obs://build.opensuse.org/home:pluskalm)
libethereum (obs://build.opensuse.org/home:pluskalm)
For the wallet:
geth (obs://build.opensuse.org/home:marec2000)

I am getting 20MH/s mining ethereum on a NVIDIA GTX 1080.
I was thinking perhaps mining other cryptocurrency would be more successful.

There are plenty of software available for Windows, just to install and start mining. Easy peasy...
All I can find for Linux are projects on GitHub mostly and some on user OBS repositories (like the ethereum software).
The instructions on these projects are mainly for Windows, Mac and Ubuntu. The Ubuntu linux instructions are not difficult as I am familiar with compiling software. The problem is acquiring the packages necessary.

After reading of the new BTCP Bitcoin private. I wanted to check if I could start mining it on OpenSUSE.
https://github.com/BTCPrivate/electrum-btcp.
Setting up an Electrum wallet: https://electrum.org/#download
Some of the packages I have not been able to install.

Have anyone been able to get software to mine Litecoins, Ethereum, Bitcoins, Bitcoin Cash or the new BTCP Bitcoin Private ?

Are there anyone else who is using OpenSUSE to mine cryptocurrency?
What kind of cryptocurrency.
What software are you using (installed binary or compiled yourself).

Can I use files from opensuse os-autoinst in my project ?

Hi everyone,

I am concerned about legal issues. Could someone please clarify if I can take some of files from this opensuse project, os-autoinst, and use in my project with my modifications

What confuses me, is that in all of the files there is copyright word in the beginning,

e.g.

https://github.com/os-autoinst/os-au...sole/clamav.pm

Code:

# SUSE's openQA tests
#
# Copyright © 2017 SUSE LLC
#
# Copying and distribution of this file, with or without modification,
# are permitted in any medium without royalty provided the copyright
# notice and this notice are preserved.  This file is offered as-is,
# without any warranty.

# Summary: Simple clamav test for SLE FIPS and openSUSE
# Maintainer: Wei Jiang <wjiang@suse.com>
# Tags: TC1595169

Is it ok if I just take the file and reuse it? Should I leave the commentary as is or I can delete these lines?

TUMBLEWEED Thinkpad T410 nvidia nvs 3100m - Tumbleweed Nvidia how/what to install?

$

Tumbleweeed is running fine in my old Thinkpad T410 Nvidia NVS 3100M with Nouveau for the past many months.

Read somewhere that there is an official repository provided at https://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/tumbleweed/

I added the repo and I "think" I added some nvidia package, did a zypper dup and reboot.
I am now left with a laptop in a continuous reboot loop (unable to get to the login screen) - this I will fix myself.

Anyway, really appreciate if anyone can help and advise what is the proper steps that I should do to install the nvidia driver after adding the official nvidia repo.

Many thanks in advance.

Why Opensuse is so underestimated? (or is only my opinion)

$

I think that Opensuse is one of the best linux distribution. And have a great community
But I think it is underestimated if I look on Distrowatch and Reddit (and various comments).
I saw a top on Linux Journal and I am glad that Opensuse occupied 2nd place. But I see a comment about Opensuse that made me wonder - "I thought it's dead".
Why Opensuse does not have the appreciation it deserved?
