TUMBLEWEED Unable to connect to Apple Display via Thunderbolt

Hi,

I am running TW on a Lenovo W541 laptop with a Displayport connector. I have tried connecting to an external Apple display ( actually I think there are two of them, daisy-chained ), but the display is not recognized.

xrandr only shows one connected output:

Code:

$ xrandr -q
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
XWAYLAND0 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 340mm x 190mm
  1920x1080    60.05*+

lscpi does show the TB controller, and some devices I guess

Code:

$ sudo lspci | grep -i thunder
06:00.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL4410 Thunderbolt Bridge [Redwood Ridge 2C 2013]
07:00.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation DSL4410 Thunderbolt Bridge [Redwood Ridge 2C 2013]

08:00.0 System peripheral: Intel Corporation DSL4410 Thunderbolt NHI [Redwood Ridge 2C 2013]

There are some less than encouraging messages in the kernel log when plugging in the TB connector:

I added baselibs.conf containing the package Name and added i586 Flag to the Repo, but still the 32bit package is not built in home:fschuett for package udev0 and leap 15.0.
What am I missing here?
Thanks for any help.

LEAP 15 Latest version of firefox (61)

Hello,

I've got a question. I use Leap 15.0 and I want to use the most recent version of Firefox (61), because I want some functions that Firefox 60 ESR doesn't have. Now my question is: how can I add the firefox respository in leap 15? According to https://en.opensuse.org/Firefox that is possible.

I Thank you for your answer!

TUMBLEWEED How to install with existing /home on a separate volume

Scenario: SSD for OS with separate RAID HDD for /home. Erase & re-make all partitions on SSD. Keep existing /home

How to install OpenSuse with an existing /home on a separate volume? I am able to configure the partitions on the SSD as I want them. However, the installer then wants to create a list of Btrfs subvolumes - including one for /home. There does not seem to be a way to instruct the installer to not do this and use the existing /home parition on the other volume.

LEAP 42.3 TCP throughput limited after upgrading kernel

Hello fellow users.

I use my laptop for network testing and after upgrading from 4.4.132-53 to 4.4.138-59 the tcp throughput dropped like a stone. As I can boot on either kernel, the tests are easily repeated, always with the same result.

I am running iperf3 between the laptop and some server at 33ms "RTT distance". With 4.4.132, a single tcp stream (server to laptop) peaks at 719 Mbps, as opposed to 4.4.138 were the download barely reaches 38 Mbps. After capturing some packets, I found the tcp window reaching a max of 185 KB (4.4.138) or 3145 KB (4.4.132). What I can not understand is why. Tried to compare sysctl -a outputs, checked /proc/sys/net/... and every value is identical between kernel versions.

Any pointers to the problem or where to seach for an explanation and/or a fix? Thank you.

And if so, will it start again with the GUI or the something else?

LEAP 15 How to change refresh rate on gdm login screen?

$

Since kernel 4.14 my laptop screen refresh rate is not detected correctly and I have to change it manually.(Funny, Leap 15 is on 4.12 and has this bug too) It doesn't matter on which distro. On KDE it's simple and affect login screen. But not on Gnome.
My screen behave normal on 59.93 or 59.96 but every time I install new distro it is set to 60.1.
I can change it in gnome settings but it only affects desktop, not the login screen...
So, how to set it globally?

LEAP 15 bumblebee for nvidia - SDB article

$

In the SDB for installing bumblebee, there is a section specific for Leap 15 near the bottom.
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_Bumblebee

There a lot of symlinks to be added to two different added libraries.
Can those be done as a 'gang' copy and paste, or need to be individual?

I want to make sure I have enough time to do it before the hybrid intel/nvidia cause the power down/reboot to not work again.

PS> if I could get to it easily, I would remove the nvidia card from my laptop, but not easy, and no BIOS disable.

I have an issue on my Asus. After I runned boot-repair on USB live, after rebooting the same message of Grub GNU 2.0 appears "minimal bash like-line editing is supported..."
I don't know what to do,
Here is the link http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/D9JQcvy33S/
The message says "Please do not forget to make your BIOS boot on sda1/EFI/ubuntu/shimx64.efi file!", but I don't know how to do that.

TUMBLEWEED Problem entering sleep S3

It appears my system running openSUSE Tumbleweed doesn't want to enter sleep S3 mode and is reverting to S2 sleep which is powering down the hard drives and monitor goes to sleep but the CPU fan continues running. I have attached a dump of the dmesg log from the event when I click Suspend to when I wake it up again.
Can anyone interpret what might be the cause of this and how can I fix it so my PC goes in to S3 sleep?

On my laptop with leap 42.3, DE=plasma 5.13.2, KDE frameworks 5.47.0, KDE applications 18.4.2, Kernel 4.4.138-59-default, when I open the lid the laptop resume from ram (becouse I sleeped it), I would like to do nothing leaving the laptop off, in energy saving module there is the only option "when laptop lid is closed", is it possible to do nothing when I open the laptop lid?

LEAP 42.3 xRDP - keyboard layouts changing not working

Hello.

I have a problem with changing keyboard layout when connected to my desktop via RDP from Windows machine (in Xvnc and Xorg sessions) and from Remmina client (in Xvnc session). The keyboard indicator on panel is indicates that layout has changed, but text keeps printing symbols in main language (i.e. if it was RU, it keeps printing RU symbols and if it was EN it keeps EN). Combination of Remmina + Xorg session are working fine.

I checked debug log of xrdp and xrdp-seasman - there's nothing iformation about any keyboard layout or input issues. Checked that km-00000419.ini is presented. Also upgraded xrdp from 0.9.0 to 0.9.7 but it doesn't help.

Any ideas how to fix it?

LEAP 42.3 Upgrading to Leap 15

opensusers,

Currently, on 42.3 the kernel is using the r8169 driver for a Realtek RTL810xE PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller.

On 15 does this currently work? What is the replacement for the r8169 driver? I have used the kde live version of 15 and the ethernet does not work, however the wireless does.

The 15 installation usb hangs on trying to load the driver for RTL810xE.

Any help here?:sarcastic:

How do I when upgrading to 15???:

LEAP 15 Leap 15 install GPT partition table corrupt

Done a clean install (with GPT Partition table) from DVD on my Dell E6410 laptop (new SSD). After the install is complete and subsequently running gparted to check on the disk, I get the message from gparted "the backup gpt table is corrupt, but the primary appears OK, so that will be used"

I would like any experience on this issue that anyone might care to contribute. The laptop predates EUFI facility. The system does not seem to fail in any obvious way.

LEAP 15 "Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT" on Leaf 15

I installed Leap 15 on a Dell Precision 5820, which came installed with Ubuntu 16. I am using a legacy BIOS (not EFI) boot, even if the computer is EFI capable (and Ubuntu was in fact installed with an EFI bootloader). The disk also contains a 5Gb partition with some Dell diagnostics, which I thought better to keep. The system is fine, except that at boot it shows the error:

"Error parsing PCC subspaces from PCCT"

From some posts on Fedora it is suggested that this is a kernel bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1435837#c82

Other websites suggest that it might be related to the (possibly) mixed bios/efi boot.

Did anyone else experienced the same problem with Leaf 15?

Thanks

TUMBLEWEED The problem with Gnome on openSUSE

The problem is that some applications do not respond to a mouse click. In Cheese, I can not select a click by any effect. In Gnome Maps, I grab the map with the mouse, but I can not drag it. The totem video player does not respond to a click on the playback icon, and if you double-click that window it just turns on the whole screen. Can you please if anyone knows what the reason is. Thank you.
For verification, I downloaded it on my computer to live Fedora mode and everything is working in it. I think the problem is somehow petty but I can not figure it out.

TUMBLEWEED Can't start Brackets

I have Brackets installed on my system, here are the details:

Code:

S  | Name              | Type      | Version                | Arch  | Repository
---+--------------------+------------+-------------------------+--------+-----------
i+ | brackets          | package    | 1.13+git0.49d29a8bc-1.2 | x86_64 | packman
  | brackets          | srcpackage | 1.13+git0.49d29a8bc-1.2 | noarch | packman
  | brackets-debuginfo | package    | 1.13+git0.49d29a8bc-1.2 | x86_64 | packman

It used to start and work fine, but now I'm unable to start it.

I have even tried to launch it from CLI, but I don't get any useful info, I don't get any info at all:

Code:

~> brackets
~>

How can I try to solve this? Is there some log that I can check to provide more info?
