LEAP 15.0 /etc/resolv.conf needs to be deleted almost every boot

$

This involves a newly built Gecko Leap Cinnamon system. I have built a system, seen the bug, wiped the drive, reinstalled, and seen the bug again, so it's not my imagination.

Almost every boot, I must delete /etc/resolv.conf and reboot to regain Internet connectivity, whether wireless or Ethernet. I don't think this is solely a Gecko bug. Deleting the file is a simple fix, but it's annoying. Is fixing this bug on openSUSE's schedule?

LEAP 15.0 'mount: bad usage' when entering previous 'mount -t cifs -o .....' command

$

Previous with Leap 14.x on my client, I used to mount shared cifs on a older Novell OES 11.3 / SLES 11.4 as follows with root access:
Code:

mount -t cifs -o username=xxxxx,uid=1000,gid=users,password='yyyyyy' //oes_ip_adr/shared_cifs /local_mnt
After upgrade to Leap 15 (I believe), this command does not longer work and return only
Code:

mount: bad usage
Try 'mount --help' for more information.

Any idea how to solve this?

Thx Terje

TUMBLEWEED Gnome keyring no longer unlocking after login since recent TW updates

Hello,
as the title suggests, the gnome keyring isn't unlocking at login. I use GDM but used sddm before that. Neither had a problem. I'm confused about what to do as something seems changed and seahorse shows no keys under login. It's irritating having to enter the password in Gnome a second time. Or in plasma if i open a gtk app.
Appreciate any help.

After updating my tumbleweed distribution to kernel 5.0.13-1-default, I tried to install VMWare worksation 15.1. When I execute the command to install it, the following message is displayed:

I'm wondering if anyone is using LEAP 15.0 (or any version) on an Acer Swift 5 notebook? I like the look and the weight of the 15.6 model, but I'm hesitant to buy without hearing if anyone else has tried it.

My main concerns are wifi and suspend operation.

javaFX with java-11-openjdk

JavaFX is not part of java-11-openjdk any more.
It is distributed as a separate package.
Does a package for JavaFX exist in one of the openSUSE compatible
repositories and what is it called?
My searches in this direction were fruitless.

Do I need to install ist manually?
Where would I get it then?

grateful for any help

LEAP 15.1 Cannot install Leap 15.1 RC due to missmatching boot medium

$

Hi,

I just tried to install openSUSE onto a USB stick using a netinstall image on another stick. (the destination stick is not inserted at the time the problem happens).
The installation medium was created on unix using a checksum-verified image and dd.

When trying to start the installation process, after establishing a network connection, I get the message
Code:

To use the selected repository a matching boot image is needed. Download it now and restart?
. Proceeding to do so, I get prompted the message
Code:

Installation system does not match your boot medium. Sorry, this will not work.
. The "repository" (upon inspection) is set to
Code:

download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/15.1/repo/oss
Googling the error, it seems that there is a mismatch of linuxrc initrd ID and initsys ID and on the "beta" system 15.1 RC, InstsysComplain is set to 2 (?) and therefore I get the message. After some experimenting (I tried to set InstsysComplain to 0), I think I got into the actual installer, but I didn't think it was smart to proceed that way.

Why do I get the message in the first place? Could it be that the installer is missmatching due to the internal hard drive (which is running windows), eventhough that hard drive is not supposed to be used in the installation at all?

Thanks for any help.

LEAP 15.1 Where to check for updates on 15.1 RC?

$

Hi,

as I've said in another post, I'm going to set up a new openSuse installation and wanted to use Leap 15.1, since it is "almost" ready. What happens if I install it today and 15.1 gets further updates (kernel and other) over the next week before release? will I get those updates through yast or do I, leap being the LTS release, have to reinstall once the final release it out? Where can I monitor what changes are being made? is there a "daily changelog" of sorts?

Thanks,
Max

Hallo

TUMBLEWEED Wifi crashes on browsing or transferring files on Samsung S8 through KDEConnect

Dear folks,

I have a weird issue with KDEconnect and Samsung Galaxy S8 phone needing your help to diagnose.

In a very long time, every time I browse or transferring files through KDE Connect with my Galaxy S8 phone, the wifi of my laptop crashes and restarts. But it seems no problem when doing those operations with my Nexus 5 phone. I have reported a bug #1132434 but had difficulties to diagnosed the problem.

Here is the report from dmesg while the problem happened. I am using a ThinkPad T470s laptop with openSUSE Tumbleweed installed with KDE Plasma desktop. The phone and the laptop OSes are up-to-date. The wireless adaptor is an "Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless AC 8265".

Has anyone else experienced similar issue? How could I diagnose the problem?

All inputs are welcomed here. TIA.

Regards,
Haoxian
