TUMBLEWEED No sound on Raspberry Pi4 aarch64

$

Hi,
I've just installed an OpenSuse Tumbleweed(LXQT) on a SD card and I'm now running it on a raspberry Pi4 with 4Gb of RAM, everything is working well except for the audio, I can't listen anything and the sound card is not being recognised, I just have a dummy card inside pulse audio mixer.

Is there a way to make the audio work on the raspberry Pi 4 ? I would like to have HDMI audio or if not possible at least the jack output audio...

Is there any blob firmware to load in order to make the embedded audio device to work ?

I followed the installation instructions here: https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi4

Thank you!

Profile is set to "Off" in Configuration so there is no sound after every boot of Tumbleweed. Is it possible for pavucontrol to "remember" some other choice ?

LEAP 15.1 What is the correct repository for chrome?

$

[https://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories Additional package repositories] lists [https://www.google.com/linuxrepositories/], but Yast gives an error message trying to add it. I saw a reference to [http://dl.google.com/linux/chrome/rpm/stable/x86_64] at a third party web site, but don't know whether it is the correct one for LEAP 15.1. Which, if either, is the correct one and should I submit a ticket on the error message to get Additional package repositories updated?

Also, is this the correct forum for web browsers?

LEAP 15.1 Use /et/sysctl.conf or /etc/sysctl.d for memmap?

$

I need to configure off a bad memory location. Is it better to put the memmap in /etc/sysctl.conf or to create a file in /etc/sysctl.d? Does the answer change if there currently is no /etc/sysctl.conf?

As a side note, this is really a kernel question rather than a hardware question, but there doesn't seem to be a kernel subforum. Where do kernel questions go, in general?

TUMBLEWEED Configuration of a touch screen monitor

Hello,

a small question about touchscreens. I recently got two monitors, one with touch and one without. Both are perfectly recognized and I can work with both (extended workspace, which extends over both screens.
The touch functionality also works basically - but not as I would like it to. The touch activity is carried out over the whole width. I.e. if I touch in the left part of my touch screen, the action will be executed in the left screen, which has no touch at all.

How can I adjust that the touch functionality is actually only executed in the area of the touch screen?

Torsten

hi,

i'm trying to install opensuse leap 15.1 on amd 3700x with x570 chipset (tried thumbleweed but it just hangs/corrupts screen upon boot)

installation media for leap 15.1 boots just fine but it doesn't see sata drive connected to amd raid x570. Quick googling reveals this resource https://github.com/thopiekar/rcraid-dkms

my question is does opensuse has repo for this package or there is other way to load driver for this chipset under opensuse?

OTHER VERSION Geary installs but won't open

Hello, all! New member of the Forum...and only about 5-6 months in with my Linux adventure.

On an Acer Aspire One 722, I have Gecko Linux Rolling Plasma installed (it all started when I was looking for distros reported to be friendly with the Broadcom BCM-4313 wireless adapter and OpenSUSE turned up...then I saw a YouTube video that highly recommended Gecko Linux as perhaps the easier portal for OpenSUSE).

All has gone very well, actually...and I'm getting used to YaST Software for adding packages. But one package completely stumps me: Geary.

It's available through YaST Sofware...and it and its dependencies all download and install without a hint of a problem. It appears in the menu under Internet...but, then, when I click on it, simultaneously a small Geary icon appears alongside the cursor and another one appears in the panel...and then they disappear. Geary never opens up. But, on the other hand, there's never any kind of error message or sign of a "broken" process.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what's going on here? I feel I'm so close to opening the app...but then there's horseshoes and hand grenades for the things where "close" counts.

Want to compile Estonian ID card software

Hi,

I'm pretty new to all of this so please excuse my newbie questions about this.

Since I want to run TW as my main machine only one thing is keeping me from doing so, ID card software.

Currently they are offering install.sh for Ubuntu (https://installer.id.ee/?lang=eng) so I was wondering is there an easy way to port it over to Suse? Or any other pointers how could I get it working on Suse by building the package?

Thank you in advance.

TUMBLEWEED Running a JavaFX-requiring Java applet

I'm trying to run a java applet using openjdk 8 and icedtea. Unfortunately the app requires JavaFX and fails because it can't find it.
I've installed openjfx8 but it doesn't seem to make a difference:

Code:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javafx/application/Platform
        at com.quotemedia.quotestream.C.C.E(Unknown Source)
        at com.quotemedia.quotestream.C.C.doInBackground(Unknown Source)
        at javax.swing.SwingWorker$1.call(SwingWorker.java:295)
        at java.util.concurrent.FutureTask.run(FutureTask.java:266)
        at javax.swing.SwingWorker.run(SwingWorker.java:334)
        at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor.runWorker(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:1149)
        at java.util.concurrent.ThreadPoolExecutor$Worker.run(ThreadPoolExecutor.java:624)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:748)
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javafx.application.Platform
        at net.sourceforge.jnlp.runtime.JNLPClassLoader.loadClass(JNLPClassLoader.java:1644)
        ... 8 more

The applet is launched thusly:

Code:

env JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib64/jvm/jre-1.8.0-openjdk javaws.itweb qs.jnlp
Everything works until the javafx-missing crash.

I guess my question is, is there a way to include javafx in my class path during javaws execution.
I've tried various arguments to javaws but it doesn't seem to be the way to go.

Thanks!

LEAP 15.1 Monitor enters pemanent sleep mode while OS boots

Hello, the problem started about a month or two ago. While I'm booting my PC (or exit sleep mode in Linux), my monitor enters permanent sleep mode. It looks like, graphic settings are wrong because if I connect with notebook first or press F8/F12 (entering text mode) it goes smoothly after. Also when I restore from a sleep mode twice pressing ctrl+backspace - all goes well.
I think, it could be possible because of Nvidia drivers/Kernel update.
Some people recomend to play with GRUB but I don't know what the problem exactly is.
