TUMBLEWEED How to delay update manager start?

Once my desktop (KDE 5.13.3) starts, the update manager immediately reports "unable to connect....", because the wireless is not yet connected.


The update manager isn't listed in "System Settings -> Startup & Shutdown" as I expected it to be, and I don't know what it's called or where to find it.

Is there any way to delay it's startup?

Only sdb2 is encrypted, but on boot I have to enter the password twice - once pre-grub2 menu, then once again post-grub2.

Can someone tell me if this is normal behavior or have I done something wrong, and why I have to do it twice?

How do I change/manage permissions for applet.

Sometimes Suse will ask if we want to grant Java applet permisionts to resource on localhost. This permision is required for some java applications to run property.

I have once misclicked and could not figure out how to grant it again.

LEAP 15 How to setup Firewall so it does not block Samba shares

I am an amateur Linux user, so maybe I should be using a more generic one for all system.

I set up a home server years ago using OpenSuse 11.0 and later 12.0 and Swerdna's excellent guide at the time. Eventually the openSuse version became outdated, and I could not update the system, so I had to install openSuse 15.0 Leap. I found Swerdna's guide for setting up a home network server for Leap. The guide is much the same as the previous one, and as far as setting up Samba is excellent. However the firewall instructions make no sense, in that they do not really correspond with the appearance and set up of the current firewall in Leap which uses firewall-config 05.5.

If I turn the firewall off in the YAST Services Manager ( firewalld ), I can access the Samba Shares perfectly. If I then it on, they disappear (In case a newbie like me is reading this, you can only edit the firewall in YAST if the firewall is turned on in the Services Manager). As a result I assume my Samba Shares in smb.conf is fine. Is that a correct assumption?

However anything I have tried to alter guessing Swerda's instructions for changing the Firewall in YAST results in the shares not working. Swerdna's instructions are fairly simple and clear -

Configure the Firewall for Samba

Use Yast to configure the Firewall:

Set your network interface: Go To Yast ==> Security & users ==> Firewall ==> Interfaces ==> set network Device to External.

Set your network services: Go To Yast ==> Security & users ==> Firewall ==> Allowed Services ==> set these allowed services: Netbios server, Samba client, Samba server.

So, trying to follow the first instruction I navigated to Yast ==> Security & users ==> Firewall ==> in Active Bindings on the left I can see Connections, Interfaces and Sources, but I can only access Connections. Interfaces is not acessible, so I selected "Wired connection 1 eth0" and changed the zone (using Change Zone at the bottom) from "Public" to "External" zone. I hope this has the same effect.

(I would like to add a screenshot, so that you can see the window and choices, but I cannot in this forum.)

Then, I tried to implement the second instruction navigating to Yast ==> Security & users ==> Firewall ==>, but where are the Allowed Services? I can add views in the top menu, but none give me Allowed Services. The only similar area is Services. If I select Services I get a menu choice as 5 tabs - Ports, Protocols, Source Port, Modules and Destination. It says below that "Services can only be changed in permanent configuration view". There is an option to add or edit the service.

If I scroll down there I can find samba (=Samba-server?) and Samba client, but not Netbios Server. There are several tabs for each service. Under Ports Samba shows various ports (139,445,137,138) and samba-client shows two ports (137,138), and if I select the Modules tab both show netbios-ns.

How do I make samba and samba-client "allowed"? Am I meant to be able to access Interfaces, and if so why is that tab only read only (does not link)?

I decided to go back one tab from "Services" to "Zones" and put samba and samba-client in the External zone. Is that correct?

Nevertheless I cannot access the Samba shares, unless I switch the firewall off, so something must be wrong. Here are results from firewall-cmd -

LEAP 15 Qgis Leap 15.0

Bij het opnieuw installeren van Leap15.0 installeer Qgis , Postgis en Postgresql.
Qgis lukt niet meer. Op de website van Opensuse.org download vind ik geen Qgis meer.
Ondersteund Opensuse geen GIS applicaties meer? via internet kwam ik bij GEO.
Ik kan daar Qgis installeren/ Ik krijg bij de installatie de melding niets lib.proj.so13().
Wanneer ik lib.pro.s013() via internet installeer kan ik na installatie de Qgis 3.4 (LTR) opstarten.
Ik krijg de melding Qgis gereed, waarna Qgis van het beeldscherm verdwijnt, dus crasht.

Ik heb nu een probleem daar ik Qgis gebruik voor MBO studenten.

Ik hoop dat iemand mij kan helpen.

Any guide on how to go from a github page of qt5 game to a package in OpenSuse (and maybe other distros too), that anyone can download and install as easily as anything?

What pieces of information need to be gathered and converted for a .spec file? How to format that information so that it works in a .spec file? What the conversion rules are? Does qt5 project's my_project.pro contain all except text titles and descriptions in english? If not, what other places to look for information that .spec needs? Does OBS need some type of machine processed information that a working qt5 software in github does not have, and therefore that information must be written by the packager? If so, what kind of information could that be and what questions need to be answered in order to make OBS work properly?

Does OBS provide / show verification to end users that a package was built from github data and therefore the software works exactly like something compiled from github-loaded sources in qtCreator?

LEAP 15 GRUB error : incompatible license

Hi,

I have OpenSUSE Leap 15.0 running on a Dell Latitude E6230 laptop. After the last update, the system refuses to boot. After the GRUB countdown, here's the error message:

I decided to test Xpra. Maybe in future I will use it to house automation. Xpra is a program to allow start virtual X session, attach to it from any place and reattach it to another device. Xpra assemblies the X server, X compositor and special client. X server and X compositor are run on machine, where application we would access will be ran. Client of Xpra compositor will be ran on device we currently works.

I have problem with ran it:

I got problem with Python probably (I think Xpra using Python 2, but OpenSuSE ran Python 3 or vice-versa).

There we have different errors. Brak dostępu means access denied and I think this is very important bug. Another think is uinput missing.
I will try to solve these problems, but maintainer should take care of remove there bug.

Es ist unklar, ob die im Folgenden beschriebenen Symptome auf das neue System oder einen Update in den Tagen zuvor zurückgehen, evtl. im Zusammenhang mit einem Systemcrash.
Die in Frage stehenden Programme hatte ich in der letzten Woche nicht verwendet.
Leider mußte ich wg. drohenden Speichermangels bei einem größeren Update Snapshots, Logs und Caches auf ein Minimum reduzieren.

Symptome:
Start von Libreoffice: Startversuch erfolglos, keine Fehlermeldung - auch nicht bei Start von Konsole.
Yast: nach einem Start über Superuserkonsole jetzt dauerhaft wieder erfolgreicher Start

LEAP 15 verify clamav source zip file with gpg key

I've been researching this on the net for days and reading the gpg manual. I can't get it to work.

LEAP 15 freerdp and libfreerdp2 updates for Leap 15.0 are broken

The freerdp-2.0.0-rc4-lp150.2.3.1 and libfreerdp2-2.0.0-rc4-lp150.2.3.1 packages updates for Leap 15.0 are broken. Cannot connect to RDP services:

MariaDB runs as a server on a LEAP 15.0 machine. Last evening, zypper up was executed as a cron job, service mariadb stopped and I can't (re)start it.

LEAP 15 krfb to krdc over internet woes

Host system (to be desktop shared) Acer aspire running from gecko-linux live on usb
Client system (to do viewing / interaction) identical acer aspire running leap 15.0 from harddisk normally

Installed krfb with vnc onto host system. ran krfb in kde desktop on host with address 192.168,x.y:5900 (x.y are hide real address) and a password
Ran KRDC on Client and tried to connect to <user>@192.168.x.y:5900 but got no password entry screen just a big blue blank screen.

Host did not get the someone is trying to login to your system message or anything at all. Client used disconnect and exit. Host used her exit and then got the message no operational connection possible -- port 5900 unavailable please choose another.

Host system is 3000 miles away and run by a very non-technical person. I finally managed to talk her into sharing her desktop so I can what is going on and it doesn't work! wow

Can someone tell me what is going on?

LEAP 15 backup fails

Hi y'all, I'm puzzled.
I use deja-dup to do a weekly backup of my home folder to Google Cloud Storage. It has been working until today. I get a 'Backup Failed' message with the message -

BackendException: Could not initialize backend: No module named cacerts

Internet search doesn't have a match for this message.

I keep Leap updated.

Any clues for me?

After recent zypper dup networkmanager start disconnect ethernet (internet) connection every few minutes. What is the problem could be and how to solve?
