LEAP 15.1 No bluetooth adapter found--what next?

Greetings all

I get a "No Bluetooth adapters have been found" message in KDE's Adapters--System Settings Module utility.

I'm using Leap 15.1; bluetooth worked well under Leap 15 and 42.3.

The machine is an Asus Zenbook UX330UA.

Some diagnostics:

Code:

adam@linux-sv30:~> sudo systemctl status bluetooth
[sudo] password for root:
● bluetooth.service - Bluetooth service
  Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/bluetooth.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
  Active: inactive (dead)
    Docs: man:bluetoothd(8)
adam@linux-sv30:~>

And:

Code:

adam@linux-sv30:~> sudo rfkill list
0: phy0: Wireless LAN
    Soft blocked: no
    Hard blocked: no
adam@linux-sv30:~>

Any help would be appreciated! I am stumped.

LEAP 15.1 Lost use of middle button on Asus trackpad on Leap 15.1

Greetings all

When I upgraded from Leap 15.0 to Leap 15.1, I lost the use of my middle button on the trackpad. Left and right work well, and I can set the three-finger-tap action to simulate the middle button---but the touchpad only registers left and right

I'm using an Asus ZenBook UX330UA.

Thank you!

LEAP 15.1 Samaba headache again

I finally got off my duff and installed 15.1 It went well except for a few minor glitches, Note I don't upgrade I install fresh on a second partition I keep for the purpose. Once all is running I mount my home and I'm off. In any case I have a weird Samba problem. I use Samba as a simple pier to pier to a Win7 VM (VBox) and an very old Eee PC (XP) Now I can see all clients from the Win 7 and the XP connect browse and such but i see nothing from 15.1 not even itself. Seems like every time I upgrade I have to wrestle with Samba.

Her is the smb.conf file I use and has worked in the past

Code:

[global]
    workgroup = MSHOME
    passdb backend = tdbsam
    printing = cups
    printcap name = cups
    printcap cache time = 750
    cups options = raw
    map to guest = Bad User
    include = /etc/samba/dhcp.conf
    #logon path = \\%L\profiles\.msprofile
    #logon home = \\%L\%U\.9xprofile
    #logon drive = P:
    usershare allow guests = Yes
    name resolve order = bcast host lmhosts wins
    netbios name = Linux1
    local master = yes
    os level = 33
    wins support = No
    usershare max shares = 100
    client max protocol = SMB3
    wins server =

[users]
    comment = All users
    path = /home
    read only = No
    guest ok = Yes
    inherit acls = Yes
    veto files = /aquota.user/groups/shares/

[gogalthorp]
    comment = Home sweet home
    path = /home/gogalthorp/
    read only = No
    guest ok = Yes
    force user = gogalthorp

I only understand about 1/2 this stuff

So the server appears to work but the client does not. I have restarted it several times. I think the firewall is set right but with the new zones defined I'm not sure. I may be missing something :P

LEAP 15.1 No fdisk in LEAP 15.1 Rescue

See title. Nor cfdisk, sfdisk, gdisk parted, gparted, or kparted. There is kpartx, but that's different, right?

Seems strange that the rescue system doesn't have a partitioning tool. I need one to debug some hardware problems. Lots of other utilities in /sbin, /usr/sbin, /usr/bin and /bin so doesn't seem like a size problem with squashfs.

Also, how is this even possible? Isn't install basically the same thing as the rescue system, just running an install script or executable? How does install do its partitioning?

Thanks for any help. I've run out of names of partitioning utilities to look for.

LEAP 15.1 Corrupted graphics on resume from suspend (Acer Swift 5 15.6)

Suspend to RAM messes up my graphics on resume. The top part of the screen is always corrupted, with irregular rectangles wiped out (see https://imgur.com/TT3bVwq) and flickering at the bottom of the rectangles.

Suspend to RAM does work correctly with Kubuntu 19.0.4, but I'd like to stay with OpenSUSE if i can make this work.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

LEAP 15.1 Leap 15.1 & Plasma

$

I am running Leap 15.1 with KDE Frameworks 5.55.0. I am running an old Nvidia GeForce 8400 video card and using the Nvidia driver. Plasma is not stable at all and especially not stable when using the Dolphin file browser. Computer slows down so badly I have to stop and restart the plasmashell roughly every hour. The computer runs fine after restarting plasmashell.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

LEAP 15.1 Canon Pixma TS6251 - wireless connection & firewall

$

I can connect in a wireless way to my Canon Pixma TS6251 printer/scanner if I disable the firewall or if I perform the following steps:
* make sure the printer/scanner gets assigned a fixed IP address by the router (192.168.2.159 in my case)
* add the following rule to the firewall via the command line interface (note that 'home' is the active zone):
firewall-cmd --zone=home --add-rich-rule='rule family="ip v4" source address="192.168.2.159" accept'

Before I tried to use the GUI (via yast2 - Firewall) and opened ports but I could not get that working although I opened all ports mentioned in the documentation and recommended by various websites (80, 161, 427, 443, 515, 631, 8000, 8610-8612, 9100).

So now that I have the scanner/printer working, the question is how to find out which ports are being used and how to best insert/open them in the GUI of the firewall.

Hi!

Actaully problem I have workaround to live with, but really strange for me. After upgrading Leap 15.0 to 15.1 pulseaudio daemon is not starting on user login and as well via

Code:

Job for pulseaudio.service failed because a fatal signal was delivered to the control process.
See "systemctl --user status pulseaudio.service" and "journalctl --user -xe" for details.

But, it's ok when starting just via

Code:

from console. Sound is working ok meanwhile even without pulseaudio loaded.

LEAP 15.1 Update error

Hi,

Yesterday I installed OpenSuse 15.1 (as an update from 42.3) and the update manager in the bottom right is saying I have 1512 updates (!!!!!) but is also saying "failed to activate service 'org.freedesktop.PackageKit' timed out" yet when I go into Yast and go to online update, it is showing no updates.

Any thoughts?

Many thanks!

When I run motion from the command line works just fine. E.g. as root user both:

Code:

or
Code:

works fine but:
Code:

service motion start
fails and outputs:
Code:

Does anyone have any idea why this would be the case?

run sub-script as normal user within a script run by root

Hello.

I run the following script as user root from a terminal in a kde environment. I start it using :
Code:

sudo /path/to/script/main.sh
Code:

#!/bin/bash
#
########################
#
#    {config_script}
#
#    /xxx/yyyyyyy/main.sh
#
#    §2019_08_11§
#

#
#    ɸminor_version:0-0-0ɸ
#
########################

# # ensure running as root
if [ "$(id -u)" != "0" ]; then
    echo
    echo
    echo "This script must be run as root user"
    echo
    echo
    exit 255
fi

Some sub-script 'zzzzz' within script 'xxxxxx' (run as root user) must be run as normal user 'userA' .
Or some command must be run as normal user 'userA' .

As an real example, I need to create a firefox profile for 'userA' .
To do so, within the caller script 'xxxxxxxx' I call a script named : create_firefox_profile_user.sh
Code:

runuser -l userA  -c '/path/to/script/create_firefox_profile_user.sh  "userA" '
Code:

#!/bin/bash
#
#
########################
#
#    {config_jcd}
#
#    /xxx/yyyyyyy/create_firefox_profile_user.sh
#
#    §2019_08_11§
#
#    ¨version:34¨
#
#    ɸminor_version:0-0-0ɸ
#
########################

CUR_USER="$1"
echo "Creating firefox profile for user $CUR_USER"
firefox -P

I got an error :
Code:

Error: no DISPLAY environment variable specified
Changing the command to :
Code:

DISPLAY=":0"  firefox -P
suppress the error.

Is there a more academic way to run script as another user without the error concerning the dispaly variable.
Is there other environment variables that are not set from the point of view of the user currently changed.

Any help and/or comments are welcome.

TUMBLEWEED How to create ISO image with KIWI that have yast2-installation?

Hello,
I'm creating my own openSUSE custom ISO with KIWI.
I manage to create live ISO and OEM, but the OEM simply install the ISO without user interaction.
I want to create image that user can do partitioning and filesystem creation, pretty much like the openSUSE ISO on the website that we all install.

I'm not sure if using KIWI is the correct approach. But I believe if I need yast2-installation module to start.

Thanks.

LEAP 15.1 Nieuwe installatie geeft verschillende problemen

Code:

pcools@linux-p3mg:~> man ls
man: can't set the locale; make sure $LC_* and $LANG are correct
Man: find all matching manual pages (set MAN_POSIXLY_CORRECT to avoid this)
 * ls (1)
  ls (1p)
Man: What manual page do you want?
Man:

Het gaat dus om de eerste twee regels na mijn opdracht.

Hi all,
recently installed openSUSE and I can say I am loving it! However I noticed that it is taking anywhere from 2-4 mins to boot. The first time I booted it after installation it took seconds (should note this is on an ssd) but now it seems to be taking forever. I havent done anyting but install steam and nvidia drivers and a few other programs. Here is the first 3 lines of my systemd-analyze blame output
Text
2min 3.902s btrfsmaintenance-refresh.service
2min 2.166s chrony-wait.service
1min 59s plymouth-quit-wait.service

I have no clue what these services are and why they are taking so long, please someone help!

Hello,

I have removed 3 harddrives from my system, now the system is stuck and cant decrypt.
I used this fix avoiding to type the pw twice, without any clue what I was doing. It worked, now I guess the name of the drive has changed, causing it to crash. Because it works with all other drives attached.

I want to type the pw, twice again. How to do that?

with my next system I will disable encryption for sure..>:(rotfl!

TUMBLEWEED How to correctly shut-up "pam_unix(sudo:session)" syslog spam?

I run
Code:

    ssh -V
        OpenSSH_8.0p1, OpenSSL 1.1.1c  28 May 2019

on
Code:

    lsb_release -rd
        Description:    openSUSE Leap 15.1
        Release:        15.1

as well as a # of TW instances.

Every time I ssh to a remote, e.g.
Code:

    whoami
        pgnd
    ssh -F /etc/ssh/ssh_config -l root remote.example.com

the remote syslog gets spammed with,

How to stop sudo PAM messages in auth.log for a specific user?
https://unix.stackexchange.com/quest...-specific-user

, for Debian, suggests shutting-up the pam_unix sudo spam with an edit to
Code:

    /etc/pam.d/sudo
        ...
+        session [success=1 default=ignore] pam_succeed_if.so quiet uid = 0 ruser = zabbix
        session required pam_unix.so:
        ...

on my boxes, the file's got different content that Debian to start with,
Code:

    /etc/pam.d/sudo

        #%PAM-1.0
        auth    include        common-auth
        account  include        common-account
        password include        common-password
        session  optional      pam_keyinit.so revoke
        session  include        common-session
        # session  optional      pam_xauth.so

where,

(a) it does NOT use Debian's "@include" syntax,

&

(b) there's no instance of "pam_unix.so"

On Leap/TW, what -- specifically -- needs to be added/changed it its pam config to similarly shut this log-spam up?
