For a couple of days I notice no Leap 15.0 repositories are available. Entering zypper up results in the following (example):
Code:
Repository 'Qt 5' is invalid.
[Qt_5|https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Qt5/openSUSE_Leap_15.0/] Repository type can't be determined.
Please check if the URIs defined for this repository are pointing to a valid repository.
Warning: Skipping repository 'Qt 5' because of the above error.
The same applies for various other repositories such as Frameworks, KDE and others.
Am I missing something.

I had my laptop run opensuse Leap 15 and upgraded to 15.1 with the bumblebee driver. It used to work, however, after a system upgrade it does not work. I followed the instructions on
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:NVIDIA_Bumblebee to install the drivers and when I execute the command: "optriun -- status", I get the following response:
Bumblebee status: Ready (3.2.1). X inactive. Discrete video card is off.
When i Try to use the command "optirun" or "primusrun", the command does not execute the intended program and gnome freezes to the point that the system needs to be rebooted.
Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Just updated Leap 15.0 to 15.1 .
I like to play gnu-backgammon (gnubg) which has been working for me under 15.0 for a while. Now that I just upgraded 15.0 to 15.1 I'm having some video issues-- when I start gnubg the program runs but there is no longer is graphical output visible. My first thought is that it may be a driver issue (NVidia video card) so I downloaded the latest driver. In order to install the updated driver, I have to boot into text mode and not have the graphics drivers installed. The driver update doesn't work in graphics mode, text mode only. How do I change my boot to not load the graphics drivers so that I can boot into a text console and then install the latest nvidia drivers?
(I looked at yast, but I didn't see a place to modify what modules will be loaded)
Thanks very much,
Mark

I'm trying to use an external monitor to display the presentation of LibreOffice Impress.
I've used both Leap 15.0 and Leap 15.1 on KDE with ATI graphics and also two brands of laptops and my desktop, and have tried HDMI and VGA. They all seem to suffer the same results. So I would think this means it's not a hardware issue. I've tried searching, but can't find much of anyone else having problems.
My attempts have resulted in the presentation presenter view on the main monitor or on the external monitor with no actual "presentation". I've used Slide Show settings selecting Display 2, Display 1, and All displays. By choosing "All Displays", I've had half of the presentation on one monitor and the other half on the other monitor. I've tried the system settings display and monitor using all the combinations I can think of with no better luck. It doesn't seem to be working the way I read it should.
From a base install of OpenSUSE and LibreOffice, what are the proper steps to get the presenter view on the main display and the presentation on the external display? Does something else need to be installed?

I've been building dual boot systems for many years,
most recently with 42.3
However Leap 15.1 with Grub2 EFI basically "hijacks" the boot loader
and I can find no way to build a native boot menu using EastBCD.
Leap 15.1 is not seeing the installation of Windows 7 or Windows 10
and I can no longer boot to Windows after I install Leap 15.1
Before installing SUSE, Windows 7 and 10 dual boot fine with
EasyBCD, but when I install SUSE Leap15, I can lo longer boot to
Windows and the installer does not see the two operating systems.
How do I install Leap 15 so it sees Windows and permits me to build
a native boot menu with EasyBCD ?
My partition setup is this:
150gig Windows-7
150gig Windows-10
150gig OpenSUSE 15.1
Extended Partition
Logical:500meg /boot
Logical:12gig swap
Logical: [The balance as NTFS]

Dear sir,
I'm going to install OpenSUSE on a Lenovo Yoga S730 laptop. Unlike my previous 10+ years of installing OpenSUSE, the touchpad and WiFi of the laptop were not detected. Since the the laptop only support WiFi for connecting to the Internet, I failed to do the installation as there was no mouse and WiFi.
From Windows 10, I found the machine is using
1) Intel Wireless AC9560 160MHz adapter of version 21.0.0.100 and
2) Intel Serial IO I2C Host Controller 02E8 in Human Interface Devices.
Grateful I can be advise how to solve the problem. For example, where can I download the drivers for OpenSUSE Leap and install them during installation.
Thousand Thanks
cheers,
Karl

I'v been using K3B to rip cds into ogg format. I'v learned about FLAC (Free Audio Lossless Codec) format. The format results in much larger file sizes, but better quality. This my understanding.
What is the best format for ripping CDs? Do I gain better quality with FLAC format? File size is not really a concern. MP3 player starts with 32 GIG default, expandable up to 128gb flash card.
Are there other better lossless formats? Why? Thanks.

Hi - after updating MozillaThunderbird from the Update- Repo to Version 68.4.1 of 2020-01-10 again the Calendar has gone.
For me, this is due to delivering some Value in the Configuration for "extensions.installedDistroAddon.{e2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103}" with the new patch(?)
Here is how to get it to work again:
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb...-beta-versions
If this happens to all other users too: This is quite Complicated for some newbies - and i already had to do it many times (when Updating the Version).
Does anyone else have also the same behaviour?
If yes: PLEASE any Maintainer of this Package: The Calendar is not an Addon any more (since years), it is included in Thunderbird. Can you please check to change the Config-Value in the Future to not have any value, so the Calendar works after update?

Hi All.
Can anyone fill me in on what is the difference between the "apparently similar" zones available for the firewall? ie in particular, what is the difference between : internal / trusted / home?
I am trying to connect to DLNA sources on my internal network, and it doesn't seem to matter which zone I put my wifi in, I still cannot connect to the various media servers unless I actually disable the firewall... Surely if it is a "trusted (generic - ie trusted/home/internal network), these sources shouldn't be blocked by default?
I know I can individually add ports for various services, but for some (DLNA in particular??), this i also a bit of a puzzle...
Thanks.

Hi! I'm using Onlyoffice-desktopeditors installed by snap, but i have a little problem: when i create a list, the symbols are not what should be, for examble the circle is the "ciak" object (i don't know the real name :D). This is a screenshot:
At start the symbols were different, like § and others. I installed msttcore-fonts to solve the situation but the symbol now are as in the picture, so it keep being a problem...

Hi,
I'm trying to run a small part of an autoyast install that failed in Leap 15.0, this just consist in creating a directory, as found in documentation here:
https://doc.opensuse.org/projects/au...39966594078832:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!DOCTYPE files>
<files xmlns="http://www.suse.com/1.0/yast2ns" xmlns:config="http://www.suse.com/1.0/configns" config:type="list">
<file>
<file_owner>root</file_owner>
<file_path>/tftpboot</file_path> <!-- create directory -->
<file_permissions>777</file_permissions>
</file>
</files>
Putting above code in
/path/to/files.xml for example and running
Code:
sudo yast2 ayast_setup setup filename=/path/to/files.xml dopackages="yes"
command in a terminal, I first tried with just
file_path element as it is in documentation then added/removed
file_permissions and/or
file_owner but I always have following warning and the folder is never created:
Quote:
These sections of AutoYaST profile cannot be processed on this system:
<file/>
kate
Maybe they were misspelled or your profile does not contain all the needed YaST packages in <software/> section.
I then tried it in Leap 15.1 since 15.0 is no more supported, but directory is still not created. Any one knows if there is another way to create "smoothly" a directory with autoyast ? I can do a script but this is ugly if autoyast should be able to do it from its configuration files.
Thanks

I have a problem that I can't find an answer for thru web searches. My two, Krusader and Dolphin, file managers are incredibly slow in opening any folder on my primary hard drive. This behavior just started. I can access everything from CLI without problem, and I can access other hard drives thru file managers without problems. It is only when I try to access partitions/folders on the primary drive that the file managers are slow (15+ minutes to respond). I am using Leap 15 and Plasma desktop (some ver 5.X but not the latest - I think 5.1). Based on other info below it may be a general GUI problem interacting with the primary, sda, drive.
The primary drive is 1TB SSD that has four partitions (sda1 - /boot; sda2 - /swap; sda3 - /; sda5 - /home). The box has four other HD and they are working just fine. I have tried using the file managers in both normal user and root mode and it makes no difference. I have tried mounting sda with "default" parameters and with "acl,user_xattr" and it doesn't make a difference. The machine boots up normally so the slow response seems to be limited to a GUI file manager.
Some other background. The machine ran just fine until 2 days ago. I upgraded vitrualbox to 6.1 and that seems to have caused some boot problems. It took a day to find out why dbus was not loading from systemd. The first problem was that fstab had lost the entry for sda - it was not mounting. Because of that I couldn't change fstab (or any file) on that drive (it wasn't mounting) I used and external mount, and by connecting to a raspberry pi, was able to fixed fstab (I keep a backup copy so I know the fixed fstab is correct for what was working previously). Once that was fixed the drive and all partitions would mount. However, the machine would not boot properly because of a virtualbox problem. In rescue mode I could get into a graphical desktop and the GUI file managers worked just fine. After some web searches I traced the problem to virtualbox-guest-dkms. I deleted that and also deleted all older versions of guest extensions and deleted older versions of virtualbox - only 6.1 is left on the machine. The machine boots just fine now. I had to run "/sbin/vboxconfig" to get virtualbox working again and I reinstalled the proper guest extensions. Machine still booting fine and all virtual machines working as expected. Life seemed good.
However, when I went to use Krusader it would take way too long to access and partition/folder on sda. Same thing with Dolphin. From a terminal CLI I can navigate just fine - all folders/partitions working just fine.
I should also mention that GUI gparted also takes a long time (>15min - less than 2 min before) to start up presumably because something in the GUI environment is preventing sda from responding quickly. Queries on sda by hdparm on CLI work just fine. In fact all programs and GUI interactions seem to work just fine like they did 2 days ago. Oh, one last thing: when using ksysguard it shows the krusader and dolphin threads with a "disk sleep" (or something similar) status for CPU load. In fact ksysguard shows an "unknown" for CPU load for all other threads/processes.
Any idea on what could be going on? Ideas on what commands to run to gather information? I am very sure I didn't change any partition or boot parameters when troubleshooting the eventual virtualbox problem.

Hello.
First install on a new laptop.
After first reboot, I cannot save color or font size of terminal-super-user.
Code:
Konsole does not have permission to save this profile to:
"/usr/share/konsole/Root Shell.profile"
To be able to save settings you can either change the permissions of the profile configuration file or change the profile name to save the settings to a new profile.
No problem with the install user.

Hi,
I'm using the default MozillaFirefox version 68.4.1esr (64-bit) or package 68.4.1-lp151.2.24.1 x86_64 (15.1:Update), kernel 4.12.14-lp151.28.36-default and GNOME Shell 3.26.2. When I click into the right scrollbar or try to drag there, the windows content doesn't scroll (as I am pretty sure it used work some versions back). The only way to croll the the content is by using the mouse scroll wheel inside the window.
Another thing I think that worked previously, was to resize the Firefox window by dragging the right edge or the right lower corner. This is a minor issue, as dragging the left edge or left top corner works.
Any experience that confirm this behaviour?
Thx
Terje

My new cheap motherbard only has two SATA connectors, so I added a Via Technologies PCI card with more. My BIOS does not show it, so I can't boot from it, but I can mount drives connected to it.
lspci shows...
Code:
02:00.0 RAID bus controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT6421 IDE/SATA Controller (rev 50)
produces no results.
Is there some way I can boot from it?
