LEAP 15.1 Need to launch a command at boot-up as root

Hello,

I'm trying to find a way to launch this command at start-up as root.
Code:

echo "1" | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo

I've tried Kcron (from the kde settings menu) but I don't see any way to specify that it must be run as root.

Thanks !

LEAP 15.1 No Nvidia HDMI Audio on new laptop

Hello,

I've got a Legion Y530 with a 1060 GTX and there's something quite annoying: HDMI audio is not detected (only intel).
On the same distro, same drivers, but desktop PC with GTX 1070 at home: the HDMI audio is detected.
I figure it has to do with my laptop or my configuration. I'm using prime to switch between the intel & nvidia graphics if that makes any difference.

I've found this thread which may point to my problem:
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/t...tected-azalia/

But I was wondering if anybody had got any of these solutions working for opensuse.

Thanks

LEAP 15.1 Odd output from shell when Powershell is executed

I work with Managed Service Providers that use Remote Monitor and Management environments to manage different Linux distros. One of the things we have been playing with is installing and executing simple PowerShell commands on Linux of different flavors. We had great success with several distros we have tested on but seem to have come across an odd issue with openSUSE I have yet to understand.

This I am sure is just ignorance on my part but I can successfully install and execute Powershell at the terminal but when I use Powershell to produce scripted output it comes out blank. I know that's not a great explanation but I refer to a very basic command and a pipe to file verses just the command.

See image below,

If I run command and pipe it to a text file my output is a couple of newlines but if I run command without pipe I get a nice output as expected.

Anyone ever seen this before or can duplicate it?

We are on openSUSE 15.1

LEAP 15.1 Install QOwnNotes

I hope it belongs to this forum (Installation,...).

There are dedicated packages for Leap 15.1 I'm running, so I downlaoded them and ran:

Code:

rpm -Uvh qownnotes-20.2.6-lp152.1.1.x86_64.rpm
I get an error like this (attempted to translate it back to English):

Code:

Warging: qownnotes-20.2.6-lp152.1.1.x86_64.rpm: Header V3 RSA/SHA256 Signature, key ID 62a835db: NOKEY
Error: Failed Dependencies:
        libQt5Core.so.5(Qt_5.12)(64bit) is needed for qownnotes-20.2.6-lp152.1.1.x86_64

However, I have libQtCore5 installed, which clearly provides:

Code:

/usr/lib64/libQt5Core.so.5
So, does anyone has an idea what's wrong and how could I fix it, please?

LEAP 15.1 Newi install boot errors

I built a new system around an EVGA Z390 FTW motherboard and set it up to dual boot Windows (installed first) and Leap 15.1. Everything seems to have installed correctly, I get a boot menu with Leap 15.1 and Windows, Windows loads just fine but when I select Leap 15.1 I get a series of error messages which then go away and the boot continues successfully. I get the same errors if I boot from a GPARTED USB or a Clonezilla USB. It seems to be Linux related. Any ideas? Here is a screenshot. I'm not doing this right, can't get the image to display instead of the link.

Hello,

I had the bumblebee working using the nvidia driver. However, while trying to get dual display to work on my compute I went ahead with a fresh install of the bumblebee drivers. Now, when I load the system, and run the command "sudo lspci -nnk | egrep 'VGA|3D' -A3", it does not show the following line: Kernel driver in use: nvidia

The following commands are to show the current state of my system:

Wilbert.

LEAP 15.1 Scaling problem: bad artifacts

Hello,

There's an annoying bug related to scaling I hope somebody can help me with. I'm running opensuse 15.1 on a 15" laptop with a resolution of 1920*1080, which makes everything difficult to read.
I therefore used the scale option in kde (1.1x or 1.2x) which works fine except that there's a lot of artifacts everywhere in many KDE apps: KDE, Kate, Kwrite and so on. Basically, everytime there's lines of text inside a KDE app.

I was wondering if anybody had found a fix/patch for this bug. Thanks.

LEAP 15.1 can't format an ext4 partition in a 4TiB disk

Hi,

I have recently upgraded my Leap 15.0 to 15.1 without any problem. My system has 3 disks: one for Leap 15.1 (ext4), another disk for win10 (NTFS) and a backup disk (ext4), all of them are 1TiB and gpt.

As I want to backup some important external disks, I changed the backup disk for a 4TiB disk. Since then I could not format it succesfully. I tried first to format it with a single ext4 partition, but when I open the disk I can see only a directory "/run/media/berredo/f61b761e-f7c3-41fe-9b1f-dc4dc156ff3f" with just a folder named "lost+found" with a size of only 20KiB.

Code:

/run/media/berredo/f61b761e-f7c3-41fe-9b1f-dc4dc156ff3f
    |
    |_ lost+found

My mother board is not a brand new one, so I supposed that the file system could not handle files greater than 2TiB and tried to split the backup disk into two partitions, one for win10 and the other for the Leap 15.1. Now I can write files to the NTSF partition, but I'm receiving the above mentioned message when accessing the ext4 partition.

My backup disk is described bellow:

TUMBLEWEED Memory Leak With KDE's Baloo File Indexing Service - Options?

Hi,

Running openSUSE Tumbleweed KDE 64Bit.
I noticed I have a bad memory leak.
I have "baloo_file" in KSysGuard which has increasing memory footprint as time progresses?

Should I disable KDE's "Baloo" file indexing service?
What is best method to disable "Baloo" in KDE?
Let me know what my options are, thanks!

LEAP 15.1 USB Fingerprint reader

I got a small usb fingerprint reader (UMAX, but I think it's a generic one with UMAX printed brand on it).

My Leap 15.1 doesn't seem to se it:

Code:

linux-e53g:/home/libor # lsusb
...
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 27c6:5740
...

This one is appearing and disappearing, whin pluging/unplugin the USB fingerprint reader. It's also the only one without text label.

Any ideas how to proceed?

By the way, I installed fprintd and such, but that is only next step, after it will be recognized as hardware.

LEAP 15.1 RAM full and machine crashing - No idea why....

Hy again!

I have two Leap 15.1 KDE installs (one Dell Precision M6400, one Libretrend box), since last summer/fall both show a strange behaviour. They normally stream some VLC (via http, from raspberry pi machines) OR do a little VNC to other opensuse machines or raspberry pis. Sometimes a little Firefox/palemoon.

After some days, the RAM is apparently full (or at least the orange bar in htop fills up RAM available). And then the machine crashes.

Here a htop for one of the machines shortly before a crash

https://paste.opensuse.org/33129629

And here the journal for a crash event, nothing specific, only spam imho

https://paste.opensuse.org/32957974

I have the taskbar widget to monitor CPU, RAM and network (3 vertical bars) and when I see the RAM filling up, I do a reboot to avoid the crash.

The machines are both up to date. The Libretrend box has multimedia codecs in addition to standard repos, the Dell notebook is plain vanilla install.

I bought additional 4 GB RAM for the Dell machine, to stop the crashes from happening on a daily basis :-/

Any ideas what might be going on here?

LEAP 15.1 NetworkManager drops connection after last update 2020 feb 19

Update was 2020 feb 19, previous was ~feb 16.
NM tries to establish connection, then drops it.

Service "wicked" works well.

I use kernel from "Stable" repo: 5.5.4-2.1.g813d10d, previous was 5.5.4-1.g119f9ca.
All works well with kernel 5.5.4-1.g119f9ca.
Trying both kernels after update: same mistakes.

Enabling/disabling IPv6 didn't helped.

Some output with dmesg:
trying to establish connection every 15 seconds, then fails.

After visiting many websites about programming, my laptop hangs few hours later

I already disable the js,flash and cookies in firefox since i do not need them

i shut down my laptop forcefully and install openSuse again through DVD but after it is installed and open, this message appears:

TUMBLEWEED Custom shortcut key not working

I had to reinstall tumbleweed yesterday and now everything is more or less back to normal except for one small glitch: I assigned a custom shortcut key to launch firefox: meta + f. But when I hit the key combination nothing happens--firefox doesn't start. I've set up the same shortcut on another computer that's also running tumbleweed and it works without a problem. And the shortcut used to work on this laptop before I reinstalled tumbleweed. So I'm not sure why it's not working now. Other shorcuts work on the same laptop. For example, I've assigned meta + d to launch dolphin. (By "meta" I mean the "windows" key.) I'm running plasma 5.18.0 with kernel 5.5.2-1.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Possible commands are:

Please can somebody suggest what I do next please.
