Hello

First time i use this forum. Normally i found the answer to my problem with internet search.

I use tumbleweed on my laptop since 2 years and happy with it. Works great.
I installed Tumbleweed in my new PC. Everything works as expected except for the wifi adaptor. The module to support it load but finish with this error message.

[ 7.905254] iwlwifi 0000:2d:00.0: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)
[ 7.997136] iwlwifi: probe of 0000:2d:00.0 failed with error -110

Motherboard: MSI Prestige X570 Creation
Wifi adaptor: Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200.

Run Command: /sbin/lspci -nnk | grep -iA3 net

2d:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX200 [8086:2723] (rev 1a)
DeviceName: RTL8111EPV
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:0084]
Kernel modules: iwlwifi

Run the latest version available ( 20200218).

Seem to me that the modules dont't recognize the adapter or the modules is missing this adapter ID.

Thanks in advanced for your support.

TUMBLEWEED LiveCd crash at systemd

Hello there, I'm trying to run Tumbleweed live on my usb drive sadly after 3-5 minutes of booting screen (after I choose if I want to open the os or recovery) it crashes, gives me the input:
Code:

[  3.013124] Coudn't get size: 0x8(a lot of 0's)e
[  3.013164] MODSIGN: Couldn't get UEFI db list
[  3.013124] Coudn't get size: 0x8(a lot of 0's)e
[  3.013124] Coudn't get size: 0x8(a lot of 0's)e

Then it tells things like there is a report text file and I should reboot my system, after that it just sends me to systemd terminal.

My Computer has gtx1070, i7 and 16gigs of ddr4 ram. And normally runs win10x64.
The tumbleweed live iso file I downloaded was for x86_x64 and had KDE, although I also tried with gnome, which gave me the same result.
The usb was formatted as FAT32.

LEAP 15.1 large Micro SD file system [exfat]

Hi
I have a 512GB micro sdxc, the only file system that mounts is exfat, I can format the sdxc with ext4,f2fs but am unable to mount the sd. I would like to try and use the more normal linux file systems as I want to store my music on the sdxc and use amarok to play the albums; However it displays the later albums( I presume ,stored, on high numbered sectors) has having zero run time. Dolphin does show the correct size file for each track but not the tags for artist, genre etc. In googling I have learned as NTFS & exfat are microsoft they do not store permissions and I presume tags, so linux fakes them.

Thanks in advance for your advice/pointers.

Hi,

Code:

gsettings set org.gnome.mutter experimental-features "['scale-monitor-framebuffer']"

Hello.
LAPTOP ASUS G731GV.
I have discover that the mac address of the wifi subsystem have change between 2020/02/06 and 2020/02/21.
The only hardware change I made is to add a hdd and memory ram.

I am using network manager.
Network is not configured and used as is.
Only ethernet port is in use.
Wifi is not in use.
I am not running a VM.

the command 'ip addr show' show :

LEAP 15.1 Getting HDMI/DP video with Raven2

With Raven2 I mean Ryzen 3 3200G(E) and Ryzen 5 3400G(E).

These processors (APUs) are too new for a Leap 15.1, so you need to update it.
With Leap 15.2 or TW: supposedly it will work without additional updates.

1. Update XOrg + Mesa:
You need to update XOrg files to successfully boot after update of a Mesa packets.

1.1. Add X11 XOrg repository http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...USE_Leap_15.1/ .
1.2. Make "Full repository Vendor change" with this repo.

You may use zypper
Code:

zypper dup --from [repository]
or
Code:

zypper dup --from [repository] --allow-vendor-change

2. After that I still had 1024*768 resolution, no info about monitor parameters, no OpenGL hardware support.
So I updated kernel from "Stable" repo: http://download.opensuse.org/reposit...able/standard/ .

After that Leap 15.1 is working good (I hope).

TUMBLEWEED Tumbleweed: No bluetooth after update

Hardware is a 27" iMac running latest Tumbleweed. All was working fine until running "zypper dup" yesterday, 2020-02-20. Now, neither of my Bluetooth adapters show up at all.

Running rfkill -list shows me only ONE of my two Bluetooth adapters, but it's not reporting as blocked:
Code:

0: hci0: Bluetooth        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
1: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

I've got a dual-band Intel wifi card in this system, and the internal Apple bluetooth has also been working. Been using both with zero problems for a while now. Wifi has no issues, so I know the
Intel dual-band card is at least halfway working. Parsing through the journal and DMESG yields:
Code:

journalctl -b | egrep -i 'blue|firm|intel'

The Intel card is the Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 2x2...wifi speed is excellent. The Apple bluetooth adapter is whatever came in this box. I'd be happy if EITHER was working again. Anyone have any clues? Last update apparently broke things.

LEAP 15.1 wifi connection how to?

LEAP 15.1 Getting sound from onboard ALC1220 + HDMI with Raven/Raven2/Fenghuang in 15.1

$

Some systems are experiencing problems with getting sound from onboard audio and sending audio signal through HDMI cable when using relatively new Raven2 APUs.
Mr. mrmazda describes his troubles here.
I had the same problems with nearly the same hardware.

Here is my solution.

1. Update your Leap 15.1 as described here.

2. Install PulseAudio's "pasystray" utility. You may also install other PulseAudio utilities.
Another useful terminal-run utility is

Code:

alsamixer

3. Start Yast -> Hardware -> Sound and set up both audio cards "Family 17h (Models 10h-1fh) HD Audio Controller" and "Raven/Raven2/Fenghuang HDMI/DP Audio Controller" using button "Edit" located in the left bottom corner.
Set one of them as a primary using button ~"Other" -> "Set as the Primary Card" located in the right bottom corner.
"Family 17h (Models 10h-1fh) HD Audio Controller" = onboard audio with some Realtek chip (ALC1220 for a new systems).

And here goes the main solution: for some reason these two cards are swapped in the YaST sound settings window.
That means: if you selected "Raven/Raven2/Fenghuang HDMI/DP Audio Controller" as primary then the real primary card will be "Family 17h (Models 10h-1fh) HD Audio Controller", and vice versa.
You may check it selecting "Other" -> "Play Test Sound".
Or select "Other" -> "Volume...", then REAL "Family 17h (Models 10h-1fh) HD Audio Controller" would have settings for a different outputs, and REAL "Raven/Raven2/Fenghuang HDMI/DP Audio Controller" would have none of them.

Set with plasmoid "Volume" appropriate HDMI output.

ASUS says onboard audio Realtek ALC1220 supports 7.1 sound output, but I only see up to 5.1 (and 7.1 for HDMI).
I don't use 7.1 sound, so I don't perform additional researches.

IMHO that's all.

You may check or change your settings with "pasystray" or "alsamixer".
You may ask your questions here to shed some light on an undescribed items.

I did it with a default for a Leap 15.1 PulseAudio and ALSA packets.
Maybe update for a PulseAudio 11.1 -> 13.0 and ALSA will help.

Hint: to run YaST in an english version in a text mode you may run in terminal this command as a root:

Code:

env LANGUAGE=en_EN.UTF-8 yast

I have installed Opensuse a number of times but this is the first time I have seen it boot into Grub instead of going the OpenSuse Login. If I type exit at the grub prompt the boot process continues to the OpenSuse login in screen. What I need to know is how to stop the boot process from going to grub. I just want it to boot to the OpenSuse login screen.

Zypper tray icon: why don't allow to force an update?

I think tray icon of zypper should allow to force an update. In this mode, zypper will be asked to keep any earlier version of package if never causes dependency problems. I always select this option, when tray icon on Plasma desktop told me zypper cannot install updates because dependency problems. So why force user to ran terminal? Simple add dbus method to safety force an update (and button to invoke this method from tray).

TUMBLEWEED Bye-bye CherryTree. Suggested replacement?

Hello! I am about to upgrade TW and I noticed CherryTree is going to be removed. I have a handful (uh... a rather large handful...) of academic notes made with CT over the last 3 or 4 years, and I wish to ask a few questions:
a) Is there any application that you could recommend and I can use to replace CT?
b) Is it possible to back up my CT data so that I can keep using it with said application?
c) Is CT coming back? (;_; I know, I know: not the smartest of questions, and perhaps no straight answer available)

Additionally; is there a list of software scheduled for removal? I've read python2-based software is going to be removed, and I was wondering how to somehow take preventive measures so that I don't end up annoyingly begging for advice on backups.

Thank you for reading! And thanks in advance for any kind help or advice you can share.

More precisely, it launches but does not update the interface when working with it, but if you minimize and then expand the browser window, then the changes made in the interface will be drawn (for example, we will see a new open tab). The browser gives the following error to the console - attempting load of libEGL.so. How to fix this problem, I remember on Gnome 3 firefox worked fine under wayland?

Googling for the errors leads leads to posts recommending installing libncurses - but that's already installed:

Code:

$ rpm -qa | grep ncurses
